about

Nature is the most famous artist. My personal nature led me to express myself as a painter. I mix different media to follow creating the world around me in the way I see it and I feel it. The beauty and the ugliness I meet, I seal them into my paintings and create my aestetics to transmit positive vibes and brightness to fix the disequilibrium and advertise the harmony and peace. The diversity of themes and mediums I employ in my paintings, helps me to express myself.

– Anna Frolova | Anna de Riga

My name is Anna Frolova, and I am an artist.

Anna de Rīga – is my artistic name which I use from 2015. My home city is Rīga, where I first entered to the workshop at the age of 6 years old. It was the art studio of a Belorussian artist, which lived and worked in Latvia at that times, in the center of Old city of Riga. The beauty of the Art Nouveau architecture of my homecity and the atmosphere of art workshop space made me fall in love with art at very young age.

For the long time I studied in different universities in few European countries on programs that has nothing in common with an art. All that life experience I also portray in my works.

Although my relationships with art started at very young age, my way to the art world began after I moved from Latvia to Spain. I was lucky to meet Gaia Professors that introduced me to art life in Valencia.

I mostly work in oil and acrylic on semitransparent canvas, that creates motion effect to my paintings, thanks to the background layer that reflects the light.

I used to work in watercolour, pastel, charcoal and other medias that now I use and mix in approprite mannear in my works.

The author’s technique I develop – is on semitransparent canvas with reflective background layer and led backlight for night mode. The motion effect it creates is possible to appreciate by observing the painting from different view angles at distinct lighting conditions. The painting changes constantly during the day. The landscape or figurative painting I create in this technique is always enriched with the sence and the aesthetics. It takes time to elaborate the work in this technique because of some steps to follow that requires time to create the painting.

Now I feel comfortable to combine abstract and realism whether its landscape or figurative work. I feel grate pleasure to mix the styles and techniques, and I keep investigating by myself (on art fairs, in artist studios, in galleries, meeting artists all over the world) to enrich my own technique.

During my art life I participated in several collective exhibitions in Valencia: in Sala Mosaicos de la Estación del Norte de Valencia (where I got I premio de Manos Unidas), in Central Market of Valencia (got special premio from the Central Market), in Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia (got the 2 premio), in Centre del Carme (sold my work for charity purpose), Conservatorio José Iturbi, Galería Jorge Juan (sold my work on Christmass Charity Fair).

My solo exhibition is in Vall d´Uxió in the Restaurant La Gruta, and is available till 10th of January 2023.

My works are exposed in office spaces in Valencia (Spain), Tiflis (Georgia). There are works also in various private collections in Latvia, Russia, Georgia, Spain, France and UK.

All my works has CoA and are properly carried for transportation all over the world.

Anna de Riga is one of the most brilliant students of Gaia, Center for the Study of Art and Restoration. Anna has shown throughout her career, to be a person capable of excelling in each of the proposals that have been raised.

She has found her own style and her particular way of transmitting what she wants to say to us. Even with this, Anna continues to explore new languages to extract from them everything that may be useful in her creative process. Recently and under my supervision, Anna began to explore the path of abstract art and the different schools of it. Each of her works were so brilliant and amazing. Without a doubt, she will put into practice everything she has learned, when she shows us her most personal and intimate work.

So let’s enjoy the work of this great artist.
